Studio Standards
Welcome to our studio—a place of connection, creation, and discovery. To honor this shared journey, here are a few practices we hold dear:
Creating Together in Community
Our studio is more than a place to work—it’s a community where we lift each other up. No matter where you are on your pottery path, you’re welcome here. This is a space for open hearts and minds, where we value kindness, learning, and encouragement. Together, we create a safe and inspiring space that nurtures every artist who joins us.
Mindful Making: Respecting the Medium
As with all meaningful work, pottery has its own rhythm and its own care. Dry clay dust, while natural, can be a hazard if it lingers in the air, so we don’t allow dry sanding of any kind in the studio. We also keep air purifiers running at all times, equipped with fresh filters. To respect our space and the health of everyone here, we ask that you take special care to clean up any dry clay or scraps as you work. A clean space allows us to continue creating safely, and it helps honor the beauty of our craft.
Maintaining a Shared Sanctuary
This studio belongs to all of us, and each of us plays a role in keeping it inviting and ready for the next hand that touches the clay. After your time here, we ask that you wipe down your station, clean your tools, and return the space to the calm and welcoming state that you found it in. Small gestures like these keep our studio a sanctuary for all who create here.
Thank you for bringing your creativity, care, and respect to this space. Together, we’re shaping not only clay but also a community that reflects the true joy of creating.
Frequently Asked
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting messy in. Relaxed fit pants are best at the wheel. Closed toe shoes that are easy to wipe down. Leave your jewelry at home, and tie your hair back for safety.
Do you charge Firing Fees?
All of your firing fees are included in the purchase price of clay. You will not be charged again once your work is fired. Each class includes one 25 pound bag of clay, each bag purchased after that is $50.
What is the parking situation?
Our studio has plenty of off-street parking in the lot behind the building, upper and lower level lots, enter “Fruit Place” into your GPS and you will see these lots. There are handicap spaces behind the building with ramp access and elevators to our floor.
Do you have a cancellation/refund policy?
If you cancel a class more than 1 week prior to the start of the class you will receive a full refund minus $50 registration fee. Workshops are non-refundable once you have registered.
What if I have to miss a class?
If you miss a class, you can make it up by attending another class during your 8 week session. If you join the next session, your make up sessions will carry into the new term, otherwise they do not carry past your current session.
May I use clay that I have purchased outside of the studio?
To keep our studio running smoothly and ensure the quality of our work, all clay used in the studio must be purchased from us. We’re proud to use locally sourced, sustainably made Sheffield clay from Massachusetts. This also ensures that the materials are safe for our equipment and compatible with our firing schedule.
May I bring a friend? Or take clay home for them to use?
Studio access is just for you, and we’re not able to fire or glaze work made by someone who isn’t registered to be here. That includes friends, family members, and others—even if the piece is small or made at home. But, we do love welcoming new people into our community, that’s why we offer Bring-a-Friend Days—scheduled opportunities during your session when a friend can join you for $25. These spots are limited and require advance registration, so be sure to sign up early!
