In this two-day hands-on workshop, Dwayne Sackey shares his approach to making faceted and altered tea bowls on the potter’s wheel. Students will throw tea bowl forms and explore techniques for faceting and altering to create dynamic, individualized pieces.

Through demonstrations, guided practice, and discussion of finished examples from Dwayne’s studio, participants will develop a deeper understanding of proportion, movement, and surface in functional pottery.

Students will throw, alter, trim, and experiment with slip decoration while receiving individual guidance throughout the workshop. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with several tea bowl forms and a clear process they can continue exploring in their own studio.

This workshop is open to potters with basic wheel-throwing experience who are interested in expanding their approach to form and surface.
